Description
Deutsch: Das Pingelhus wurde um 1800 im Zuge des Hafenbaus von der Treckfahrtgesellschaft erbaut. Es wurde seinerzeit als zweigeschossiges Gebäude für den Hafenwärter und als Speditionsgebäude gebaut. Als der Hafen 1934 in diesem Bereich zugeschüttet wurde, ist das untere Stockwerk mit verschüttet worden. Der Name Pingelhus kommt von dem ostfriesischen pingeln (läuten), das immer ertönte, wenn das Fahrgastschiff nach Emden ablegte. Seit 1959 wird das Gebäude vom Heimatverein Aurich genutzt. Das Gebäude wurde wahrscheinlich von Conrad Bernd Meyer entworfen.
