Description
Deutsch: Pingartner Porphyr: Der Geotop „Ehemaliger Steinbruch im Pingartner Porphyr“ erschließt „Erzhäuser Arkose“, feldspatreiches Flutsediment. Dieses Gestein erhielt durch eine Verwechslung mit einem ähnlich aussehenden vulkanischen Gestein fälschlicherweise den namen Pingartner „Porphyr“. Die Erzhäuser Arkose wurde zu Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts hauptsächlich in Pingarten intensiv abgebaut. Sie diente als Eisenbahnschotter, bis sie der Granit als besseres Baumaterial ablöste. Seitdem fand sie nur noch gelegentlich Verwendung im gemeindlichen Wegebau. Heute ist der aufgelassene Steinbruch bei Pingarten bayernweit der einzige größere Aufschluss in Rotliegend Sedimenten und besitzt daher Seltenheitswert (Quelle: Infotafel im aufgelassenen Steinbruch in Pingarten): Pingarten, Gemeinde Bodenwöhr, Landkreis Schwandorf, Oberpfalz, Bayern
