English: Pilots of the U.S. Navy Attack Squadron 215 (VA-215) "Barn Owls" pose with one of the squadron's Douglas AD-6 Skyraider aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hancock (CVA-19), in 1962. VA-215 was assigned to Carrier Air Group 21 (CVG-21) aboard the Hancock for a deployment to the Western Pacific from 2 February to 7 October 1962. Under the tri-service designation system, officially introduced on 18 September 1962, the AD-6 was redesignated A-1H . The pilots were (l-r): Lt. J.B. Fowler, LCdr. M.D. Blixt. Sitting on the wing: Lt.jg. T.M. Burns, Lt.jg. C.E. Hill, Lt.jg. R.L. Goggin, Lt. L.A. Collier, Lt.jg. A.G. Mitteer, Lt.jg. J.N. Donis, Lt.jg. B.W. Whitcomb, Lt. A.K. Tyskiewicz. Standing on Wing: Lt.jg. C.C. Spencer, Cdr. F.W. Brown, Lt. J.H. Dunlap, Lt.jg. G.A. Dion, Lt.jg. W.K. Hitson, Cdr. L.A. Dewing. On cockpit: Lt. J.E. Grimes, Lt. J.B. Goodwin. |
