From : Alan Stanton, Tottenham Hale ward councillor To : Haringey Environment Department Cc : Ward councillors Sent : Friday, December 28, 2012 9:09 PM Subject : Waste bins - Flats above Windsor Parade - corner of Dowsett Road N17 Please see my photos taken on 12 December 2012 and posted on Flickr. They show a recurring problem - which my partner Cllr Zena Brabazon has also reported previously by phone. The location is at the corner of Dowsett Road N17 near the junction with High Road Tottenham. The nearest address is the entrance to flats above the shops in Windsor Parade 538-554 High Road. The nearest shop is a hairdresser - Hairwaves at 538 High Road. The "presenting" problem on 12 December was that waste was piled high. A resident told me it hadn't been collected for at least a fortnight if not longer. It stank. In the following weeks it seemed that the volume of waste remained high. The bins seemed to be full and bags were left near or sometimes on top of the bins. Zena Brabazon also spoke to a resident who told her that while bags on the bins were collected, the waste bins themselves were not emptied. I'm told that the landlord of the flats is Stadium Housing, a Registered Social Landlord based in Wembley. I assume the waste bins are provided by the landlord for the use of residents. But it's also possible that some of the bins are for trade waste. Can you please tell me what action has been taken in addition to arranging for Veolia to clear the waste, to investigate with the aim of finding out what's happening and solving the problem. Unless already underway, can I suggest contact with: (1) Residents; (2) Stadium Housing; (3) the nearby shops. Thanks for your help. ____________________________________ § Aerial view of where I took these photos. |
