Rockhampton's Pilbeam Drive, 2022

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The starting point of Pilbeam Drive at the base of Mount Archer in the suburb of Frenchville in the regional Australian city of Rockhampton, Queensland.

Pilbeam Drive was opened in May 1965 and named after Rockhampton City Council mayor Rex Pilbeam whose "drive" had made it possible for vehicles to travel up to the summit of Mount Archer.

Pilbeam used government grants to enable the road up to Mount Archer to be constructed without ratepayers needing to foot the bill.
