Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_71712_2.jpg Notes: אַלּוֹן הַתּוֹלָע נמצא ליד מבנה קבר שיח39 עבאדללה על גבעת הארטיס מצפון לבית אל. זהו כנראה עץ אלון התולע העתיק ביותר בארץ בן כ-700 שנה ואולי יותר. כנראה שקדושת קבר השיח39 הקרוב עזרה לשמור עליו. אלון התולע משתייך לקבוצת אלונים צפוניים נשירים שהבלוט שלהם מבשיל בתוך פחות משנה אחת. גובהו של העץ הוא 3-8 מ39. שמו של העץ ניתן לו על היותו פונדקאי לתולעי השני הגורמת להופעת גידולים דמויי אלמוג על ענפיו. בתקופות קדומות השתמשו בצבע האדום של התולעת כמרכיב ביצור צבע השני. אלון התולע הוא עץ מוגן על פי חוק.
