Even in the early 1900s, Pike Street was busy with people and vehicles. In this photo, electrically-powered streetcars rumble down the center of the street, and horse-drawn carts drive next to the curb.

Heussey Building (built 1891, demolished 1927) just left of center at the far corner of Third Ave and Pike Street; just a bit of MacDougall and Southwick Company building (built 1908, still extant 2022) peeking out near the right edge, on the far side of Second Avenue.
