| Description | Although orang utans are the stars at Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary, the other wildlife is not to be sneered at. Most photographers, me included, were so enamoured of the apes feeding and doing acrobatics that we hardly noticed other monkeys on the hand rail, making their way to the feeding platform looking for scraps. Pig tail and long tail macaques often join the orangutans and visitors during feeding times hoping for an easy meal. If provoked, the macaques can get quite aggressive towards each other and visitors, but they are quite fascinating to watch as they groom and play together. Here, a pair of pig tailed macaques walks by as one group of tourists decide to move on. (Sepilok Orang Utan Rehab. Centre, Sepilok, Sabah, East Malaysia, Nov. 2013) |
