Italiano: "Il passaggio del dipinto dalla Guardaroba agli Uffizi avvenne nel 1787, ma su questo episodio non sono stati trovati documenti certi. La tradizione lo attribuisce ad Andrea del Sarto; fu il Gamba, sulla base delle indicazioni del Vasari, a riconoscervi la mano del Puligo e ad identificare nel personaggio ritratto Pietro Carnesecchi, riconoscimenti confermati unanimemente dalla critica successiva. Un altro supposto ritratto del Carnesecchi, sempre attribuito al Puligo, si trova ad Oakley Park nella collezione Earl of Plymouth. Scrive il Vasari: "Fra molti ritratti che Domenico fece di naturale, che tutti son belli e molti somigliano, quello è bellissimo che fece di Monsignor messer Pietro Carnesecchi, allora bellissimo giovanetto". Il Vasari stesso riproduce questo ritratto nella volta della sala di Clemente VII in Palazzo Vecchio, in un ovale nel quale è raffigurato Clemente VII che impone la berretta cardinalizia a Ippolito de' Medici. "... è M. Piero Carnesecchi, segretario già di Clemente che allora fu ritratto quando ancora era giovanetto, ed io dal ritratto l'ho messo in opera". Il Carnesecchi infatti, imparentato per parte di madre con il cardinal Bibbiena, fu segretario di Clemente VII, ma dopo il 1540 abbracciò la Riforma secondo le dottrine valdesi: fu perseguitato, decapitato e bruciato su ordine del Tribunale dell'Inquisizione, il primo ottobre 1567, sotto il pontificato di Pio V. Nel 1527 si era recato a Firenze, sfuggendo al sacco di Roma. Aveva allora diciannove anni e il ritratto in esame dovette essere dipinto in quel periodo, poiché il Puligo morì in quello stesso anno" [1] |
