English: Pierrot Figure Matchsafe, late 19th century
Description
English: In the form of a Pierrot figure, with small pointed hat, wide, saw-tooth edge collar, large buttons down front of baggy, one-piece costume, small pointed shoes; he has hands in pockets, pulling costume outward, exagerating his girth. Head and collar, hinged at back, flip open as lid. Link attached to upper part of right arm. Striker situated on reverse side, just beneath character's buttocks. Matchsafe may stand upright.
