English: So-called Portrait of Madame de Sévigné (1626-1696)
Italiano: "Il dipinto compare in una lista di quadri comprati in Francia dal Favi nel 1793 (ASG, filza XXVI, 28) ed entrò agli Uffizi come opera di Pierre Mignard. Sotto questo nome é pubblicato anche da Rosenberg (1977, p. 110, n. 61), che ha solevato però alcuni dubbi sull'attribuzione, riportando anche un comm. orale di J. Wilhelm che lo assegnava cautamente a Fernand Elle. Anche l'identificazione della donna ritratta, tradizionalmente ritenuta la marchesa di Sévigné non é certa. L'inserimento del quadro entro una cornice di riutilizzo proveniente dal magazzino - come attesta la scritta a tergo - in cui fu strasferito l'originario cartellino con la scritta "Di mano di Mignard 1793", non avvenne al momento dell'ingresso agli Uffizi nel XVIII secolo (cfr. Rosenberg, op. cit.), ma nel luglio 1936 (comunicazione dattiloscritta presso l'Ufficio Documentazione della Galleria Palatina)" [1]
