Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Pied Crow (Corvus albus) is a common and widespread bird species found across sub-Saharan Africa, including Uganda where Queen Elizabeth National Park is located. Pied Crows are medium-sized birds with predominantly black plumage. They have a distinctive white chest and belly, which contrasts sharply with their black wings, tail, and head. Their bill, legs, and feet are also black. Pied Crows inhabit a variety of habitats including savannas, grasslands, woodlands, and urban areas. They are often seen near human settlements, foraging for food in agricultural fields and garbage dumps. Pied Crows are opportunistic feeders with a diverse diet. They consume a wide range of food items including insects, small mammals, birds, eggs, fruits, seeds, carrion, and human food scraps. They are known to scavenge and may also prey on small animals. These crows are highly social and often form large flocks, especially in areas with abundant food resources. They communicate using a variety of calls and vocalizations, which can vary depending on the situation.
