English: Piddington Wood nature reserve, The Woodland Trust. Piddington wood is "ancient and semi natural and consists of a mixture of Oak and Ash with field maple, ash and hazel in the understorey." That is part of the description http://www.wt-woods.org.uk/piddingtonwood/description.asp on the website of its owners The Woodland Trust who make it open to the public. Five hectares of adjacent fields are part of the property; some is being planted as woodland, some is being allowed to regenerate naturally to become woodland. The maintenance is aimed at good conditions for butterflies. |
