The demand for vegetables of allkinds is uniformly steady and the prices always remunerative. STOCK RAISING. In early times stock raising was the principal dependence ofthe people of Lamar county, cattle and horses being the special-:ies. The animals subsisted exclusively on the wild grasses andrequired no care, except branding. The cattle were of the nativeSpanish species, with very long, sharp horns, tall, lithe and suppleas deer and increased rapidly, but they were wild and untamableand roamed the country with perfect freedom.
