Oneset of exercises that I am presentingin this issue is especially valuable forthis purpose. But few individuals realize to thefull the value of a strong, well-developedchest. In nearly every instance vigo-rous muscles surrounding the chestwalls insure more than average strength of exercises for attaining this particularobject, I have never published a methodof developing this part of the bodywhich will bring such quick and satis-factory results as the exercises I am giv-ing in this series of lessons. Always be sure to continue the ex-ercise until the muscles are tired. WhenI say tired, 1 do net mean exhausted.

Take same exercise with position of body reversed. Thisexercise brings with vigorous use the muscles on the extreme side portion of the shoulders, andis a splendid exercise for hardening the shoulders. on the part of the vital organs whichthey enclose. These organs, as you canreadily realize, perform some of theprincipal vital processes of the body.All that is needed in developing the chestis the regular use of the muscles surround-ing this part of the body. Although Ihave presented a great variety of systems I do not want you to continue till thereis pain in evidence in the muscles em-ployed, but simply continue until thefeeling of fatigue is quite noticeable.
