Most people reply to you in English. Despite this, I still feel my Indonesian skills are getting better. I’m not fluent, but comfortable. I spent some of today studying French in preparation for our 6 month stint in France. Working most days, travelling, and taking pictures has really taken time away from my language studies. It’s time to get back on track. One of the major reasons I chose to travel was to challenge myself linguistically. I’ve promised myself that I wouldn’t lose track of that. In the next 2.5 years I want to achieve basic fluency in at least 5 languages. I’m half-way there with Spanish, and a quarter the distance in French. Indonesian I’m not far off. My German and Italian are non-existent right now, sadly. It’s time to hit the books again.
