ellowish, diiTused patches with amarginate border. A notable feature of this case is the entire absenceof the eruption over the sternum—a region in which it is commonlyfound and to which it is frequently confined. This is the result ofexcessive perspiration which tends to destroy the parasitic growth, while a moderate amount of persistent cutaneous moisture conducesto its development. This will account for the usual absence of theeruption in the axillary region. It is quite uncommon to tlnd such well marked patches uponthe arms as are seen in the illustration, and only in exceptional casesdoes the eruption extend down upon the thigh. In severe cases afew small patches often exist unnoticed beneath the hair of thepubic region, and the frequent tendency of the disease to relapseafter an apparent cure may be justly attributed to the faft that how-ever vigorously the treatment may be applied to the rest of theaffected skin, this region is very apt to be neglefted or overlooked. At thistime, two, three or four patches have possibly developed, one oneach lid near the inner canthus, and usually no further increase isnoted, in rare cases the entire lids are involved. Pompholyx is a vesicular affection which usually involves thehands and sometimes the feet. It is always symmetrical, althoughone hand or foot may suffer more than the other. The lesions, which have been aptly compared to sago grains imbedded in theskin, are attended with a severe burning or itching. The disease isoften mistaken for acute eczema, although it bears a much strongerresemblance to pemphigus. As the disease usually occu
