English: Photograph displayed in the first floor of Sukna Rail Station Museum of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway above the first class waiting room. The Photographs displayed here is numbered left to right.
This Photograph shown here is described as :- The suspicion that the railway could be privatised spread like wildfire through the hill communities, and political action was threatened if there were any moves to reduce the staff. It resulted in the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Protection Committee being formed in February 2003, and the demand was made for the provision of more steam engines to make the service viable. Despite the introduction of diesels, the early morning Mixed had continued to be hauled by steam, and No. 782 ‘Mountaineer’ is seen with the two-coach train and a gravity trolley near Rangbhul. |
