Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A plate of glass is pressed with a clamp and it is placed between two crossed polarizers appears to have some transparent areas. According to the theory of photoelasticity, the allocation of these areas gives information about the existence and the allocation of stresses in the material of the ruler. These stresses are a result of the forces applied by the clamp.
