Summary
[edit]DescriptionPhoenix MET telltale Sol 2 cropped and gamma 4.01.png |
English: Phoenix Mars spacecraft's MET weather mast on the surface of Mars, as imaged by Phoenix at Sol 2, day 3 after landing. The left half is a crop of the full image to show the tell-tale at 2.3 metre height that indicates wind-strength and direction. The right half is the same crop with gamma 4.01 applied to enhance the tell-tale reflected in the rectangular mirror: the diagonal black cross is a reflection of the horizontal cross at the top of the thin tube with white dots to indicate wind-strength. The view is approximately South-West, and the tell-tale appears blown towards the camera, which indicates the wind is from the North East.
The telltale was made by Denmark's Aarhus University. Original description: This image was acquired at the Phoenix landing site on day 3 of the mission on the surface of Mars, or Sol 2, after the May 25, 2008, landing. The surface stereo imager right acquired this image at 12:52:35 local solar time. The camera pointing was elevation 11.4637 degrees and azimuth 234.767 degrees. Related images:
