Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Phillipsite-K (FOV 2.5 x 3.2 mm)
Locality: Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry; Carrière Mont Saint-Hilaire), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada
Found May 1997. MOB coll.
These phillipsite balls seem to be an indicator for faujasite-Na in the Poudrette pegmatite "contact zone". The "phillipsite" ID was made optically by WH. However according to Horvath (Lapis July/Aug 2000), only phillipsite-K is found in this environment.
The faujasite-Na from Kaiserstuhl is associated with very similar phillipsite balls.
These phillipsite balls can look very similar to gobbonsite found in the same environment - see for excample http://www.mindat.org/photo-163600.html But higher magnification reveals squarish cross sections and pyramidal terminations. See also the referenced gobbinsite photo.
Deutsch: Phillipsit-K (Sichtfeld 2,5 x 3,2 mm)
