Summary
[edit]DescriptionPhilip Roeser House, Tonawanda, New York - 20190915.jpg |
English: The Philip Roeser House, seen here, is an example of a relatively seamless (if not completely inconspicuous) integration of a pre-existing farmhouse into a 1950s-era suburban residential tract. For the first century of its existence after its 1846 construction, its front façade faced Guide Board Road (now Eggert Road), set back some 350 feet (about 100 m) from the street and surrounded by 125 acres (50 ha) of farmland. The land passed out of the Roeser family's ownership in 1898, and into the hands of land speculators by the early 1920s. Its current address in 31 Malvern Curve, a block to the southeast of Eggert according to the current layout of streets in the area. |
