| Description |
English: Stereoview of the interior of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Raleigh, NC, c. 1880, published by W. T. Robertson, Asheville, NC. The Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church was established in Raleigh in 1874. This church, a vernacular Gothic Revival style structure, was built on the 100 block of the south side of Hillsborough Street in Raleigh and was completed Easter 1875. This view shows the altar and the center aisle of the nave. Chairs for the congregation are visible at both sides; the vaulted ceiling is also clear as well as partial views of the side wings. This frame church was moved to the back of the lot in 1899 upon the construction of a new stone church 1899-1914. In 2007 the church decided to add a large addition and the original church was moved at this time to South East Street opposite City Cemetery where it is now used as an event venue.
