Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Originally the monastery church was not the parish church of Pfäfers, but a so-called peasant little church within the medieval monastery complex. This first chapel was built around 900/905. In the 10th and 11th centuries it had the rank of a church and was dedicated to Saint Evortius of Orléans. In 870/880 the relics of St. Evortius of Orléans are mentioned in the Pfäfers reliquary index. Because the chapel was dilapidated and the floor of the cemetery was rocky, it was demolished in 1624. The chapel and cemetery were then rebuilt 1625 in the new location Bofel where these photos were taken. The monastery took over most of the construction costs and retained the right to occupy the pastorate. The Pfäfers municipality paid 250 guilders in cash. From then on, the population of Pfäfers was allowed to use the monastery church as a parish church. The newly built chapel St. Evort became a cemetery chapel. In 1951/52 the chapel was renovated inside and outside. The windows on the upper road side were bricked up and the tower ball with the cross was gilded. In 1984 there was a renovation without further information. There are two bells. One from the 14th century and one from 1606. This photo shows the north side as seen from the cemetery.
