| Description |
My Ford Contour has returned to the dealership that had sold it, a year and a half later. But as it is a Sunday, I am not looking for any service work to be done. I had been on the road for almost two weeks now; fed up with the dot-com bust in the San Francisco Bay Area, I wanted to be away from there, and eventually move away for good. One consideration for my road trip was to end it in Southern California, which had been my longtime home until I relocated to the Bay Area a year earlier. I would eventually move back to Southern California - but only after another year, including seven miserable months in Tucson, Arizona. This photo at the dealership is a nod to that "homecoming" theme I was looking for in Southern California. The dealership joined the Power Automotive Group a few years later, and renamed itself to Power Ford; the Contour was given away to my mechanic in 2006. |
