| Description |
English: There is a smaller Siq or gorge (called Wadi al-Muthlim or Wadi Muthlim) than the one providing the approach to the Treasury, through which one can hike, though assistance from the always nearby Bedouin is almost a necessity, if only because some large boulders block the way at several points, that are almost impossible to climb without a helping hand (well I was 64 years of age at the time also). An elderly man helped me through. I usually leave people out of the picture but kept him and another man we met in, also because they provide some reference as for the size of boulders and such. The gorge is very narrow at some points. In the surface of the rocks are several inscriptions and other traces, the man also indicated some plants, birds, interesting erosion patterns, and a reptile. At the end (having starting at the far side near the Tombs of the Kings) we arrived at the tunnel, almost at the entrance to the main Siq. I provided no explanations, as I don’t have any. I found it named Wadi el-Modlem in another source. |
