Description

Grave of Peter Hayden at Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio, in the United States.

Hayden (1806-1888) moved to Columbus Auburn, New York, in 1845. A savvy businessman, he founded or co-founded the Hayden bank, the Hayden & Sons foundry and machine works, a hardware store, a saddlery, and a coal mining and coke manufacturing film. The town of Haydenville, Ohio, is named for him. He was extremely wealthy at the end of his life, primarily due to his iron-making and coal mining interests.
