Summary

[edit]
Description Portrait photo of the U.S. Navy Naval Air Transport Squadron 3 (VR-3) in July 1966 on one of the squadron's Lockheed C-130E Hercules aircraft. Visible are 131 crewmen, 20 more were on missions. VR-3 was based at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey (USA), and became the last U.S. Navy transport squadron flying for the Military Air Transport Service/Military Airlift Command until the squadron was disestablished on 19 July 1967. The demands of the Vietnam War and the resultant pilot shortage caused the Navy to withdraw its commitment.
