The top of the cliff was bould during the Permian by sponges and other reef-building organisms. The flanks are the ancient slopes connecting the reef with the basinal depths. Français : Vue des montagnes de Guadalupe au Texas. Le sommet de la falaise s'est formé durant le Permien. La roche est issue de la biominéralisation de la silice en solution dans l'océan permien par par d'immenses récifs d'éponges siliceuses et d'autres organismes de construction récifale. Les flancs sont les anciennes pentes reliant le récif aux profondeurs marine périphériques. |
