Summary
[edit]DescriptionPerkinsville Railway Station, Arizona (31410886297).jpg |
The small community of Perkinsville, Arizona once had a store, school and post office. In the early 20th Century there were about 10-12 families living here but very few now. It's claim to fame is that it was used in the 1951 western film “Santa Fe” and as a filming location for scenes in the 1960's movie "How the West Was Won". Today the hamlet would be virtually unknown except that a preserved railroad - the Verde Canyon Railroad - carrying hundreds of tourists every day from Clarkdale stops here. Passengers are not allowed to get off the train but can clearly see the old station - which has seen better days - and other buildings. |
