Summary

[edit]
Description

A former Argentine air force Douglas A-4P Skyhawk on display at the Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, Puerto Iguazú, Misiones Province (Argentina). This aircraft is painted as "C-215" (ex U.S. Navy A-4B BuNo 142102) which served with Grupo 5 de Caza at Villa Reynolds air base. However, this aircraft was shot down during the Falklands War on 27 May 1982 by 40 mm gunfire from HMS Fearless (L10). The pilot, Lt. Mariano Velasco, was killed.

Note: If you look closely at the wings, air intakes, canopy, drop tanks etc., one wonders if this is really a former aircraft or a copy made of concrete.
