Summary

[edit]
Description
English: There first were two Hellenistic towers at a city gate. In 120-122 AD Planica Magna funded the reconstruction of its inner, horseshoe-shaped courtyard. The walls were covered with marble blocks and a two-stories colonnade in Corinthian order was added. The niches between the columns of the upper story held the statues of Perge's legendary founders, Mopsos and Calchas. On the lower level the statues of Greek deities, including Hermes, Aphrodite and Pan, were placed. For years the whole was being restored and could not be visited.
