Deutsch: Vorderseite: AVT KPAT K MA-PKOC AVP ANTΩNEINOC. Panzerbüste des Caracalla mit Mantel über der l. Schulter, Gorgoneion auf dem Brustpanzer und Lorbeerkranz in der Brustansicht nach r.
Rückseite: [EΠI CTP] - M KAIPEΛ - AT-TA-/Λ-OV // ΠEPΓAMHNΩN / ΠΡΩΤΩN Γ NE/ΩKOPΩN. Die drei Neokorietempel von Pergamon, je mit einem Kranz geschmückt. Die beiden äußeren mit Kaiserstatuen auf Basen, der mittlere mit einem nach l. sitzenden Asklepios. In den Giebeln der Tempel AVΓ, ANT, TPA. Kommentar: Caracalla erteilte Pergamon das Recht, einen dritten Neokorietempel zu weihen, in dem die griechischen Bewohner der Provinz Asia Asklepios und Caracalla kultisch verehren konnten. Caracalla wurde hierbei zum 'Mitgott' (Syntheos) des Asklepios. Hierfür wurde sicherlich kein neuer Tempel erbaut, sondern die Statue des Caracalla gesellte man dem wichtigsten Kultbild des Asklepios in Pergamon bei. Pergamon war stolz, als erste aller Städte einen dritten Neokorietempel erhalten zu haben. Bis an das Ende der eigenen Münzprägung wurde nun diese Besonderheit, mit der man sich über die anderen kleinasiatischen Städte erhob, in der Münzlegende hervorgehoben. Literatur: B.
