Description

Tortuga bay, Puerto Ayora. Isla Santa Cruz. Sula nebouxii El piquero de patas azules es una de las aves características de las islas Galápagos, por sus patas de brillante color azul. Esto se debe a un pigmento presente en su alimentación a base de peces, y una mayor coloración indica mejor salud, siendo esta característica un elemento indispensable en su ritual de cortejo. ·

The blue footed boobie is one of the distinctive species in Galapagos archipielago, because of its brigh blue feet. This is due to a pigment present in its fish based feeding, and the most intense color means better health, beeing this a capital element in its mating ritual.
