Carte de visite. Studio of Robert W. Thrupp, By Appointment to Her Majesty, 66 New Street, Birmingham. Bought from an eBay seller in Old Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Percy John Clemow (2 May 1865-23 April 1889), London-born West Bromwich boy. Died Rio de Janeiro, aged 23. Robert White Thrupp (1821-1907), Birmingham portrait photographer. His studio at 66 New Street was established on 31st March 1862 in partnership with the Canadian-born American lithographer and photographer <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_Sarony" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Napoleon Sarony</a> and Samuel William Hill, stationer. Sarony returned to New York in 1866, and became a highly successful photographer of celebrities, perhaps most notably of <a href="https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/283247" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Oscar Wilde</a>. |
