Description
English:

On verso of image: Dawson City, Yukon, 1899? Filed in Yukon Territory

The British American Corporation owned the steamships TYRRELL, LIGHTNING and J.P. LIGHT. The J.P. LIGHT was built by the Moran Brothers Co. and launched on April 23, 1898. Delivered to the British American Corporation at the mouth of the Yukon in May of that year. The TYRRELL was built in 1898 by the Canadian Pacific Railroad at its yards in False Creek, Vancouver. She eventually saw service on the lower Yukon River. (pg. 28 and pg. 31) Notes from Gordon Newell, ed., The H.W. McCurdy Marine History of the Pacific Northwest (Seattle: Superior Publishing Co, 1966). Jo's Juneau Restaurant was probably owned by J. Bonnifield, who owned the Juneau House Saloon in Dawson ca. 1901. The Monte Carlo in Dawson was owned by Isaac Burpee.
