Title
English: People and goods ready to start over Chilkoot Pass, ca. 1898
Description
English: The gold seekers packed their supplies from Sheep Camp to just below Chilkoot Pass. At this point, they assembled their goods, weighed them, and, if they could afford it, arranged to have their supplies carried to the top of the pass by packers or tramway.

In this 1898 photo, people wait by their supplies and sleds before starting the steep climb up Chilkoot Pass. The sleds will have to be carried over the pass too.
