Summary
[edit]DescriptionPentagram-phi-mathematically-correct.svg |
English: I am the author. This SVG file is intended to replace Pentagram2.png, as the pentagram depicted in that PNG file is not all that accurate or symmetrical; additionally, SVG files have infinite resolution. The pentagram and the colored lines indicating phi ratios depicted in this SVG file are very accurate: to eight decimal places (with correct rounding, as I used PARI/GP to calculate the measurements). The pentagram in this SVG file is centered at its circumradius within the viewport. Also, the colors of the colored lines indicating phi ratios are in a logical order within this SVG file (whereas they were out of order in the PNG): starting with red for the longest line, then green for the next shorter line, then blue, then "wrapping around" the color band with magenta for the shortest line (and the lines are stacked atop each other in that order). Lastly, this SVG file does not include superfluous colored lines (as with the PNG file), as all point-to-point line lengths (including points at intersections) are contained by picking any one of the five golden gnomons contained in the pentagram. Whereas the PNG file not only contained superfluous colored lines (i.e., two green lines in it), but it failed to illustrate a golden gnomon via colored lines. It is intended that this economy in use of colored lines (by restricting them to only one golden gnomon) will better help to illustrate the elegant geometrical and mathematical nature of the pentagram.
And so you have it. Further, this file is intended to replace Pentagram-phi.svg, of which said file used to be identical to this file, yet modifications made to Pentagram-phi.svg by QWerk are mathematically incorrect, e.g., where the blue becomes magenta is in the wrong place. |
