These memories are part of our lives, but it doesnot take away from us the love of our common country or the gloryand the valor of American manhood, no matter on which side itwas displayed. We men of the South did the very best we knewhow, and after the lapse of half a century we have no repinings orregrets at what the call of duty, as we believed it to be, bade u.idare and do.
