| Description |
English: This is a 1974 reconstruction of a house that was built to house the families of Francisco Pellicer, of Minorcan descent, and José Peso de Burgo, of Corsican descent, during the British period circa 1780. Pellier’s side of the house was sold in 1787 to Demetrios Fundulakis, a Greek fisherman and sailor, while Peso de Burgo’s side of the house was sold in 1791 to Juan Sanchez, whom used the house as a rental property, and the house changed hands several more times, finally being demolished sometime before 1831. The house was reconstructed as part of an effort to restore the colonial appearance of the city by the Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board, which reconstructed several other houses and structures from the colonial period during the 1960s and 1970s. |
