| Description |
Français : Le menhir dit de Peyrolles, situé près du hameau des Pontils. On appelle en occitan la « Peyro Dreito » ou en français la « Pierre Droite » ou « Pierre Dressée » ou « Menhir de Peyrolles », sachant que le nom de Peyrolles a pour origine le mot « peyre » qui signifie « pierre » et « olla » étant une « urne » peut-être funéraire. Le nom du village aurait donc inévitablement pour origine la présence de cette pierre vraisemblablement tombale selon de nombreux écrits. Outre le fait de mesurer 2,85 mètres de haut et 2 mètres de circonférence, cette pierre présente la particularité d’être extrêmement inclinée.
English: The menhir known as Peyrolles, located near the hamlet of Pontils. We call in Occitan the "Peyro Dreito" or in French the "Pierre Droite" or "Pierre Dressée" or "Menhir de Peyrolles", knowing that the name of Peyrolles originates from the word "peyre" which means "stone" and " olla ”being an“ urn ”perhaps funeral. The name of the village would therefore inevitably originate from the presence of this probably tombstone according to many writings. In addition to being 2.85 meters high and 2 meters in circumference, this stone has the particularity of being extremely inclined. |
