Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Peet's Light, ruined Pile Lighthouse, Ribble Channel These ruins, only occasionally seen as the moving sands come and go, are of Peet's Light, a pile structure built in 1906 on the north side of the Ribble Channel. A small house built on top of the structure housed the Tipping Master, Mr Peet, who was overseer to the construction of the retaining walls of the channel. The house was destroyed in a fire in 1954 but the navigation light shined on until the structure was destroyed by gales in 1985. The sands out here are very unstable and should not be walked by the sensible.I have walked these sands for over thirty years and they still scare me.
