Description

From the auction notes: The present owner has inherited the painting from his grandfather, who for many years was a custodian at The Hirschsprung Collection, where the painting was given to him as a present, perhaps in connection with an anniversary. The painting is inscribed and signed on the back by Emil Hannover: “Malet af P.S. Krøyer. Fundet mellem hans Papirer. Foræret Kustoden Vald. Christensen. Emil Hannover” (Painted by P.S. Krøyer. Found among his papers. Presented to the custodian Vald. Christensen. Emil Hannover).

From 1912 Emil Hannover (1864–1923) was the director of The Hirschsprung Collection.
