| Description |
English: Peat surfaces on Westhay Moor The peat in this field is nearing exhaustion. The flooded area to the bottom right shows where all the peat has been removed leaving the underlying blue-gray clay which is soon flooded and, over time, becomes colonised with water tolerant plants such as phragmites. |
