Description
English: Transmission electron microscopy images of Cissus verticillata food bodies during their maturation phase. (A) General view showing epidermal cells and internal cells. Note the low cytoplasmic density. (B) Detail of an epidermal cell showing mitochondria and dictyosomes, and an external periclinal wall with a thin and adhering cuticle. (C) Detail of the cytoplasm of an internal cell showing active dictyosomes that are budding off numerous vesicles. (D) Internal cells showing peripheral cytoplasm with mitochondria and dictyosomes. Note the fusion of vesicles that appear to be contributing to the increase in the periplasmic space.
