| Description |
English: Peaceful rural scene near Newstead Mill This meadow is peaceful now but in the past has been the scene of feverish activity. The dark line that comes in from the right hand edge marks on the ground the line of the Welland Navigation Canal across this field. This canal was active from 1673 until 1863 when due to competition from the new railways it ceased operating and the land was re-incorparated into Uffington Park. |
