HERBERTII. shaped trellis, its closer growth, superior foliage, and finer flowers, give it a farbetter appearance than Z/. lateritia, and it will bloom abundantly throughout thesummer and autumn months. For a summer ornament to the flower-garden, forplacing singly on lawns, for aiding to form a temporary and agreeable hedge whereflowers are most desired, or for covering detached trellisses in the warmer part ofthe season, it is particularly useful- From its origin, it will necessarily have to be propagated by cuttings, but thiscan be done with as mvich freedom and precision as the similar multiplication ofnumbers of half-hardy plants. If it is grown in pots, by plucking off the seed-vessels as they are formed^ it is quite possible that the plant might assume ashrubby character, and last in perfection for many years. It is named after the Hon. and Rev. W, Herbert, the Dean of Manchester.Our drawing was made in the nursery of Messrs. Henderson, Pine-Apple Place, inthe summer of 1842. I
