Summary

[edit]
Description

Paulina Lake is one of the twin crater lakes in Newberry Crater, central Oregon, United States (the other being East Lake). It is located 6,331 feet (1,930 m) above sea level in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument near La Pine. The lake's primary inflow is seepage from East Lake, snow melt, and hot springs, and its outflow is Paulina Creek, a tributary of the Little Deschutes River. It has an area of 1,531 acres (619.6 ha), a volume of 249,850 acre feet (308,185 dam3), a maximum depth of 250 feet (76.2 m), a shore length of about 6.7 miles (11 km). It was named after Chief Paulina who was a Northern Paiute war leader noted for his successful guerrilla tactics. The name is pronounced Paul - LYE- nah.

This was taken in front of the lodge area. They have some nice cabins right on the lake and a nice little dining room. Open in summer and winter they provide a snow cat to pick you up in winter at the snow park about 7 miles down the road from the lodge and bring you and your belongings up. It is on my list for winter trips now.

Public domain
The Public Domain Mark (PDM) is not a copyright license, but a symbol used to indicate that a work is in the public domain. When it is applied by the author or the copyright holder, community consensus has decided such works as being public domain in the US and countries where it is legally possible to release own work to the public domain. In the countries where this is not possible, the copyright status of the work remains undetermined.
If a file is tagged with Public Domain Mark by someone other than the author or the copyright holder, a more specific copyright tag such as one found at Commons:Copyright tags/General public domain must be applied. If this is your own work, please use {{Cc-zero}} instead.
