This is a parabolic antenna providing a point-to-point microwave link to another access point. The signal radiated by a vertical dipole antenna under the small U shaped shroud on the boom reflects off the dish, producing a beam of vertically polarized microwaves. A metal screen reflects radio waves just as well as a solid metal dish, as long as the holes are less than 1/10 wavelength in size, so screen reflectors are used to reduce weight and wind loads on the dish.
