Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Pathway down to Rushcliffe Halt There is in fact no residential community with the name Rushcliffe. The halt was primarily created to serve the adjacent gypsum factory, and the only older reference to the name Rushcliffe that I am aware of is the nearby golf course. More recently (from the 1970s local government reorganisation) the name has been taken for the local authority which covers the whole of the southern portion of Nottinghamshire. The halt was not built when the Great Central line was built, as it would then doubtless have followed the standard pattern for that railway of a single island platform. The halt is now the normal terminus of the heritage railway operation from the Nottingham transport Heritage Centre at Ruddington; trains are run by the Great Central Railway (Nottingham) Ltd.
